A true story

A true story

The scene took place in the early 90s, in Paris. She was walking in that beautiful street lit by all these lampposts which drew a way that would lead her towards an endless night. She was totally excited by the night, by this youth which was offering her so many possibilities, so many incredibles things and feelings to discover. The girl  was seventeen years old. Most of all she was excited by the dance they would share in that nightclub. She looked at him. His name was Alban. She met him during the last summer camp she went to. They met, they talked, they laughed. They shared things that seventeen people can share in a summer camp. They became friends and they decided to maintain contact. Now he was walking next to her, as euphoric as she seemed to be. Alban was so glad they stayed in touch that he decided to share a unique moment with her. He told her he knew a very special nightclub that played crazy music. She immediately accepted, because she was not a shy girl. She was the kind of girl who needs to dance vigorously and forget everything around her to feel alive.

After they walked for a while, they saw yellow neons away, It was the club ! The walked faster, and took place in front of the entrance door and its two security guards. They entered easily, and the girl  was surprised not to have to pay ! In the corridor, she heard a special song which she already knew and really liked : "Our Darkness" by Ann Clark, a new wave artist who did experimental music and popularized electronic genre in the early 80s. Yes, she remembers the exact music they all were dancing to.

She saw all these young bald men dancing together, in circle. The wild rhythm and the blue light flashing gain and agin gave to her an impression of transe. Their choreography was gratuated, they all were raising a leg, standing from a foot to the other foot. She kept watching suspiciously  their strange dance. Then she saw that all the young men were raising their right arm, folding and unfolding it from their left shoulder to the top.

She was horrified. She looked around her and  understood they were everywere. The Skinheads. The members of the Nationalist Youths. She didn't say anything to Alban. She left the room discreetly, not to get noticed by the Skinheads, and she finally escaped from this hell. In front of the club were standing redskins who were waiting for the nationalist youths, ready to fight. She was running away from the nightclub now and was almost crying. She felt betrayed, and ashamed. Ashamed by the fact that she became friend with a pro-nazi. She laughed so many times with him, that boy who was so nice, she totally trusted him. How well did she know him ?

She never talked or met Alban anymore.

This parisian nightclub still exists. It is called "The memphis".
